Polyarts are delighted to welcome violist Nadia Sirota to their roster.
Violist Nadia Sirota’s career spans solo performances, chamber music, curation and broadcasting. In all branches of her artistic life she aims to open up classical music to a broader audience.
As a soloist, Nadia has appeared with acclaimed orchestras around the world, including Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Symphony, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Orquesta Nacional de España, and Orchestre National d’Île-de-France.
For the 2018/19 season, Nadia teams up with the New York Philharmonic as their first ever Creative Partner, a position created especially for her.
To date, she has released four albums of commissioned music, most recently, Tessellatum, Donnacha Dennehy’s groundbreaking work for viola and microtonal viola da gamba consort, featuring Liam Byrne. Nadia’s frequent collaborators include Daníel Bjarnason, Pekka Kuusisto, Bryce Dessner, Richard Reed Parry, Nico Mulhy; Bjarnason and Kuusisto have composed Viola concertos for Nadia and Mulhy regularly composes for her, including his 2015 Viola Concerto which has been described by The Line of Best Fit as “A celebration of a lasting artistic relationship- and (…) friendship.” Nadia has also lent her sound to recording and concert projects by such artists as The National, Arcade Fire, and Grizzly Bear.
This season is set to be full of exciting collaborations and performances, highlights include performances at Royal Concertgebouw, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and a world tour with Paul Simon.
