On 19 May, Christian Schumann conducts the Philharmonic Orchestra Hagen for a live screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Lodger. Hitchcock directed the silent film in 1927, today it is generally acknowledged to be the film where he found his true “voice”: that distinctive combination of death and fetishism, trick shots and music-hall humour, intense menace and elegant camerawork that assured his place among cinema’s giants.
The Lodger project with Philharmonic Orchestra Hagen follows Christian Schumann’s successful film concerts in major halls across Europe with film scores including Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Neverending Story and a Star Wars tour which has been performed at venues including Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.
Christian Schumann is rapidly establishing a reputation as an opera and symphonic conductor, as well as a leading international force in the contemporary and film conducting world. Recent and upcoming highlights include appearances with Brussels, Hong Kong, Warsaw and Oslo philharmonic orchestras as well as a London debut with Philharmonia Orchestra.
