“Maren Favela demonstrated an exquisite vocal presence”
Acclaimed for her “expressive nuance, a powerful, soft-edged sound, and tremendous physical freedom”, Maren Favela delighted audiences last season with her portrayals of both Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra under Edo de Waart, and Zerlina (Don Giovanni) in Richard Jones’ production for Theater Basel. A former member of the Opera Studio of Oper Frankfurt, Maren Favela spent the 2016/17 season as a member of Theater Basel where she appeared in a variety of different productions, including as Kasturbai in the Swiss premiere of Glass’ Satyagraha under Jonathan Stockhammer. From concert performances of Carmen with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra under Lan Shui to her debut at Opéra national de Paris in Schönberg’s Moses und Aron conducted by Philippe Jordan, Maren Favela’s musicality and energy leaves a lasting impression.
The current season sees a return to Oper Frankfurt as Mlle. Dangeville in Vincent Boussard’s production of Adriana Lecouvreur under Steven Sloane and she expands her concert repertoire with Mahler’s Symphony No.2 with the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt.
