HarrisonParrott are proud to be KODO's UK representatives and since 1996 have toured this amazing group of drummers, based on Sado Island, Japan. From the first collaboration in 1996, we have toured KODO throughout the UK and have developed new opportunities in Scandinavia & Europe. In February 2006, Kodo embarked on an ambitious 12-performance nationwide tour, which took in venues throughout the UK and Ireland from the Sage Gateshead to Hall for Cornwall in Truro.
The group need little introduction and have been dazzling audiences worldwide with their unique performances since their debut at the Berlin Festival in 1981. The ensemble strive to both preserve and re-interpret traditional Japanese performing arts in a spectacular, theatrical show which encompasses everything from energetic, physically-charged ensemble drumming to smaller groups and soloists featuring a variety of authentic percussion instruments as well as flute, shamisen and dance.
