The Vienna Symphony Orchestra is the concert orchestra of the City of Vienna and central to the musical life of the city. The orchestra's prestigious history has included world premieres of such masterpieces as Bruckner’s 9th Symphony, Arnold Schönberg’s Gurrelieder, and Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand.
Yakov Kreizberg has been Principal Guest Conductor since October 2003 and his recording of Bruckner's Symphony No 7 with the orchestra was nominated in the 'Best Orchestral Performance' category of the 2006 Grammy awards.
