Marking the 100th anniversary of Japanese/Norwegian relations, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra and their music director Susanna Mälkki travelled to Japan in November 2005 for their first major touring project with HarrisonParrott. Travelling with them was the soloists Peter Jablonski and Pekka Kuusisto who will perform the Grieg Piano Concerto and the Sibelius Violin Concerto respectively. The tour programmes, as well as the choice of artists, celebrated all things Scandinavian, with the concerts including repertoire by Nielsen, Geirr Tweitt, Greig and Sibelius. The tour included performances in both Suntory Hall and Tokyo Opera City.
