A fourteen concert exposition of music of the twentieth century presented and performed by Pierre Boulez with the Chicago Symphony, London Symphony, NHK Symphony orchestras, the Ensemble Intercontemporain and a host of great artists including Maurizio Pollini, Daniel Barenboim, Gidon Kremer and Jessye Norman was the sensation of 1995 and is credited with opening the eyes and ears of the previously very conservative audiences in Tokyo.
The enormously successful Pierre Boulez Festival took place in Tokyo and Osaka during April 2003.
