Under the leadership of Osmo Vänskä, the Lahti Symphony Orchestra has become one of the most renowned orchestras of the Nordic countries.
HarrisonParrott has enjoyed a fruitful collaboration with the Lahti Symphony Orchestra and Vanska over the years having arranged their performing debut at the Lincoln Center, New York in November 1999 in the form of a mini-residency focussed around Sibelius. This was followed by a larger US tour in January 2005, including a return visit to the Lincoln Center as well as Vanska's US "home" city of Minnesota. The Lahti Symphony Orchestra under Vanska made their BBC Proms debut in 2003 and are looking forward to a return visit to the BBC Proms in summer 2007.
