Five main evening performances, fiddle workshops, intimate "pub" performances and a ceilidh! Such was the diversity of HarrisonParrott's 17-concert Irish Music project at the Cite de la musique, Paris (Autumn 2003). Working with the renowned Irish musician Donal Lunny as MD, this project explored the great tradition of Irish music and its many exponents. The five day event sometimes included three or four performances on one evening, ranging from fiddle duos (the Kane Sisters) to larger contemporary ensembles (such as Kila) exploring the huge potential for crossover - and ended (as every good Irish party should) with a ceilidh.
Building upon this success, many of the artists came together again for a similar project at Le Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, which focused each evening upon a different instrument or aspect of Irish Music - the pipes, the fiddle, the voice - and ended with a highly-charged 'Donal Lunny and Friends' concert with special guests from the Hot House Flowers.
