This Paris-based contemporary music ensemble was formed by Pierre Boulez in 1976, bringing together 31 soloists each with the same passion for performing 20th, and now 21st, century repertoire.The ensemble has a reputation for giving performances of the very highest quality.
The Ensemble intercontemporain was one of a small group of internationally high level groups which took part in the Pierre Boulez Festival in Tokyo in 1995. A major 2 week project - devised by Jasper Parrott with Pierre Boulez as the Artistic Director - the Pierre Boulez Festival in Tokyo celebrated the 70th birthday of this major 20th century composer and conductor, as well as his return to Japan after a gap of almost 20 years.
