Overview

In 2013 Gustav Kuhn appointed Jasper Parrott as Consultant on international strategy and programming to the Tiroler Festspiele Erl.

Founded by Kuhn in 1997, the festival aims to challenge accepted traditions and musical interpretations, exploring opera and concert repertoire in broader cultural contexts. This philosophy has helped the festival attract around 20,000 attendees each summer. It is now a fixture in the Austrian cultural calendar, and of real economic importance to the region. The festival also supports young musicians through its own orchestra and choir.

December 2012 saw Tiroler Festspiele Erl’s inaugural winter festival which took place in the state-of-the-art Festspielhaus, designed by Delugan Meissl
