Santtu-Matias Rouvali and Alban Gerhardt tour with the Philharmonia Orchestra
Performances take place at the Bedford Corn Exchange (21 April), Leicester’s De Montfort Hall (22 April) and the Royal Festival Hall (23 April) for a sold-out matinee performance. The programme features Smetana’s Vltava, Elgar’s Cello Concerto, Dvořák’s Symphony No.8 and Holst The Planets
These are Rouvali’s first concerts with the Philharmonia since the announcement of his new position with them which starts next season alongside his tenure as Chief Conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony.
In the following months Rouvali returns to the Bamberger Symphoniker with a Beethoven and Stravinsky programme and makes his debut at the Verbier Festival with Martin Fröst.
