John Adams conducts his latest work, Scheherazade.2, with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra
On 17 and 18 April John Adams conducts his latest work, Scheherazade.2 – Dramatic Symphony for Violin and Orchestra, for the first time in two concerts with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and soloist Leila Josefowicz.
The piece was premiered by the New York Philharmonic and Alan Gilbert last month and received wide acclaim, including from the New York Times which commented that “Ms. Josefowicz, playing this formidable violin part from memory, gave a stunning performance, by turns commanding and vulnerable, slashing and sensual. The ovation was tremendous.”
