Five HarrisonParrott artists appear at the Verbier Festival
Martin Fröst appears in five concerts at the 2013 Verbier Festival, including the ‘Verbier @ 20’ Gala Concert on 28 July. Other highlights of his Festival appearances include a concert on 3August with the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra conducted by Daniel Harding, in which he is soloist in Anders Hillborg’s Peacock Tales. He also gives concerts on 26 & 27 July and 1 August.
Other HarrisonParrott artists at this year’s Festival include Lilli Paasikivi, who sings in the opening concert on 19 July - in Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 with the Verbier Festival Orchestra conducted by Charles Dutoit. In addition, she sings Schubert in a chamber orchestra programme on 23 July, and, on 29 July, performs in Mahler’s Symphony No.3, with the Orchestra conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada.
Jonathan McGovern sings in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy on 22 July, with the Verbier Festival Orchestra conducted by Charles Dutoit. He is also resident at the Festival Academy, singing the role of Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia on 4 August.
Lisa Batiashvili also gives three concerts at the Festival: a duo recital with pianist Khatia Buniatishvili on 22 July; a performance of Bach’s Concerto for violin and oboe, BWV.1060 on 23 July, with Francois Leleux and the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra; and, on 26 July, she appears in a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence.
Janine Jansen is soloist in the closing concert of the Festival on 4 August; she performs Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No.2 with the Verbier Festival Orchestra conducted by Kent Nagano. Janine also appears in concerts on 30 & 31 July and 1 August.
