This week, Brenda Rae sings Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos) in the newly-refurbished Staatsoper unter den Linden, Berlin. Hans Neuenfels’ production is conducted by Eun Sun Kim, and opens on 12 January. 

Formerly a member of the ensemble of Oper Frankfurt, Brenda Rae has maintained a consistent and notable presence in Germany in recent seasons. With her many roles in Frankfurt including Gilda (Rigoletto) Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Elvira (I puritani) to name just a few, recent highlights elsewhere include Aminta in Strauss’ Die Schweigsame Frau for Bayerische Staatsoper under Stefan Soltesz, Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) for Staatsoper Hamburg, and her role debut as Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte) in Munich and on tour to Japan with Asher Fisch.
