Becca Stevens’ Regina selected among best albums of 2017 in Downbeat Magazine
Becca Stevens’ latest album Regina has been listed as one of Downbeat Magazine’s Best albums of 2017 in the “Masterpiece Category". This follows the award she received earlier in the year as their Rising Star – Female Vocalist in the Annual 65th Critics Poll by Downbeat Magazine. Downbeat says of the album:
“Regina is a fully realized, rapturous meditation on queens in history, myth, literature and Stevens’ own fertile imagination. This complex, densely layered album – the long-awaited follow-up to 2015’s Perfect Animal – contains allusive songs that are alternately dreamy and spine-tingling.”
The Brooklyn based singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist draws in elements of pop, indie-rock, jazz, and traditional Appalachian folk. Stevens has recently returned from touring Regina in Europe, Japan and the USA with recent highlights including: Ronnie Scott’s (London), Tourcoing Jazz Festival (Tourcoing), Paradiso (Amsterdam), Cotton Club (Tokyo), North Sea Jazz Festival (Amsterdam), Nice Jazz Festival (Nice). Upcoming US tour date highlights include: Millenium Stage at Kennedy Center (Washington), Ground Up Festival (Miami), University of Wisconsin and Milwaukee Theatre.
