Steuart Bedford conducts Albert Herring at Barbican Centre
Steuart Bedford conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra in a semi-staged performance of Albert Herring at the Barbican on 23 November. The concert is a highlight of the culminating weekend of the Barbican's Britten centenary celebrations. The cast includes Christine Brewer as Lady Billows, Gillian Keith as Miss Wordsworth, Roderick Williams as Mr Gedge and Andrew Staples as Albert.
Earlier this year Bedford garnered acclaim for his conducting of Britten's Peter Grimes, in the production staged on Aldeburgh Beach earlier this year. The DVD of this historic performance is shortly to be released on the Arthaus label.
