Pierre-Laurent Aimard returns to The Cleveland Orchestra for US tour
Pierre-Laurent Aimard reunites with The Cleveland Orchestra and its music director, Franz Welser-Möst, for three performances of Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 2 at Cleveland’s Severance Hall (20-22 January).
Aimard then joins the orchestra on tour in the United States to perform Bartók’s Second Concerto in Bloomington (25 Jan) and Chicago (2 Feb). For the remaining dates, Aimard performs Schumann’s Piano Concerto in Miami (28-29 Jan), Ann Arbor (1 Feb), Newark (6 Feb), and at New York’s Carnegie Hall on 5 February.
This tour represents a continuation of a strong relationship between Aimard and The Cleveland Orchestra. He recently served as its Artist-in-Residence for the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons, as well as recording Ravel’s Piano Concertos under Boulez’s direction for his most recent CD release with Deutsche Grammophon.
