Paavo Järvi and Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra complete European Tour
Paavo Järvi and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra have completed a trio of concerts combining the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam with two of Spain’s most prestigious festivals, the Festival Internacional de Santander and the Quincena Musical in San Sebastián. Repertoire included Mahler’s Symphony No. 7 and Nielsen’s Symphony No. 5, as well as concertos by Mozart and Sibelius, for which they were joined by Norwegian violinist, Vilde Frang.
Järvi and the Orchestra received outstanding critical acclaim, with high praise for the wonderful depth of sound and the precision and agility of the ensemble.
El Diario Montanes wrote of the performance at the Festival Internacional de Santander: "The orchestra was thriving in all of its sections. Järvi highlighted the work of the tubas, flutes, horns and trombones. All showed a great range, sonority, sound and power."
In their performance of Sibelius's Finlandia, El Diario Vasco commented: We knew that the orchestra was a powerful grouping, but this did not prepare us for the impact of the introduction. The impressive crescendo of the final chord in a tremendous conclusion, rounded off an unforgettable interpretation."
