Lisa Batiashvili is Bamberger Symphoniker's Portrait Artist
This week sees Lisa Batiashvili begin her residency with Bamberger Symphoniker as their 2016/17 Portrait Artist. Chosen by the orchestra for being “one of today’s outstanding and most versatile musicians”, Lisa will perform over the space of one month in a solo concerto, double concerti, chamber music, and jazz repertoire.
Alongside members of the Bamberger Symphonieorchester, Lisa performs Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence in an evening of chamber music (26 March), which is immediately followed by a foyer concert with young Georgian pianist Beka Gochiashvili. Five days later, Lisa returns to perform Dvořák’s Violin Concerto under the baton of Ingo Metzmacher (31 March, 1 April, 2 April). Led by Jakub Hrusa, Lisa’s final performance as Portrait Artist is alongside oboist François Leleux for three performances of Bach’s and Escaich’s Double Concertos for Violin and Oboe (27, 28, 29 April).
BR-Klassik Hörfunk will broadcast the latter on 7 June 2017.
In April, Lisa will appear with Berliner Philharmoniker and Sir Simon Rattle for a performance of Dvořák’s Violin Concerto in Festspielhaus Baden-Baden (14 April with an ARTE broadcast on 16 April), and in Heidelberg with Igor Levit and Daniel Müller-Schott for performances of Dvořák’s Dumky Trio.
