Jean-Yves Thibaudet

Jean-Yves Thibaudet performs with Berliner Philharmoniker

14 April 2016

Jean-Yves Thibaudet returns to the Berliner Philharmoniker to play Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major on 21, 22 and 23 April, conducted by Tugan Sokhiev.

The concert on 23 April is live streamed via the orchestra’s Digital Concert Hall – the first time Thibaudet is featured on the platform.

Speaking about the Piano Concerto – a work that he performs regularly – Thibaudet said: “The Ravel is the first concerto I ever played with an orchestra, when I was 11, and it was my choice. With Ravel, of course, I had this amazing connection through my teacher Lucette Descaves, because she was a student of Ravel's, and she gave me direct indications from the composer about how to the play the pieces. So I feel as if I knew him, as if I had lessons from him.”
