Hannu Lintu takes Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra on tour to Germany and Austria

19 December 2013

Hannu Lintu took the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra to Frankfurt, Bielefeld and Vienna, in his first tour with the orchestra since he became their Chief Conductor at the start of this season.

Alice Sara Ott featured as soloist in Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No.1 and Liszt’s Piano Concerto No.2. A noted interpreter of Liszt, Alice has recently had considerable success performing the Concerto, including an acclaimed debut with the National Symphony Orchestra, Washington.

The tour began at Frankfurt’s Alte Oper on 23 January, where the programme included Sibelius’ Symphonies Nos. 6 & 7 and Liszt’s Piano Concerto No.2. The programme was repeated on 25 January, at the Rudolf-Oetker Hall, Bielefeld.

On 27 January, at Vienna’s Musikverein, the programme again featured the Sibelius Symphonies, with Alice performing Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No.1.

The tour followed highly successful concerts in Italy and Spain by the Orchestra and conductor earlier this year, just ahead of Lintu's tenure in the role.
