Daniel Blendulf appointed Chief Conductor and Artistic Advisor of Dalasinfoniettan
The chamber orchestra’s unanimous decision follows Blendulf’s electric collaboration with them last season. His first performance as Chief Conductor will take place in January 2016, followed by concerts at the Swedish chamber music festival, Vinterfest.
Commenting on the appointment, Dalasinfoniettan’s Managing Director Karin Holdar said: “A Chief Conductor works closely with the orchestra, on a personal level as well as artistically. As soon as Daniel reciprocated interest in the position I knew that this was an opportunity we couldn’t miss. Since Daniel was already strongly supported by the orchestra, the process was very straightforward and I truly look forward to working closely together on his ideas concerning the development of Dalasinfoniettan.”
Daniel Blendulf said: “I am thrilled to become Chief Conductor of the Dalasinfoniettan. It has always been a pleasure to work with the orchestra's fantastic musicians and I look forward to continuing our collaboration through many more inspiring concerts. We will, together with the audience, endeavour to discover as well as rediscover a rich variety of chamber orchestra repertoire.”
Blendulf’s forthcoming highlights this season include performances with West Australian and Finnish Radio symphony orchestras and Trondheim Symfoniorkester. He continues to appear regularly with the Gothenburg Symphony, Swedish Chamber and Swedish Radio Symphony orchestras, and also returns this season to the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, where he conducts a programme around Eliasson’s Violin Concerto, in memory of the late composer.
