British tenor John Daszak in Hindemith’s Mathis der Maler at Semperoper Dresden
John Daszak makes an anticipated debut at Semperoper Dresden as Albrecht von Brandenburg in Jochen Biganzoli’s new production of Hindemith’s Mathis der Maler. Conducted by Simone Young, performances run from 1 to 20 May.
An ever-diverse artist, John Daszak has recently appeared as Sergei at Opéra national de Lyon in Dmitri Tcherniakov’s production of Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, immediately followed by Shostakovich’s revised version of the original, Katerina Izmailova, at Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre. Next season brings two more new roles into this already extensive repertoire - Ginastera’s Bomarzo at Teatro Real Madrid and Schreker’s Die Gezeichneten at Munich’s Bayerische Staatsoper.
