Avishai Cohen continues his orchestral success in Europe with ‘An Evening with Avishai Cohen’
Jazz bassist, composer and singer Avishai Cohen takes to the stage at the Philharmonie Luxembourg to perform his project ‘An Evening with Avishai Cohen’ with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg on 24 May.
This performance sees Cohen’s dynamic trio, which includes Omri Mor and Itamar Doari, team up with the full and vibrant sound of a philharmonic orchestra to bring jazz, ladino, Hebrew and Latin music to a new dimension.
Premiered in Malmö in 2015, the critically acclaimed project continues to evolve and transform. Previous performances have taken place at halls such as Vienna’s Musikverein and Konzerthaus, London’s Barbican and Paris’ Philharmonie, and been described as "...folksong simplicity, orchestral power, pop seductiveness and jazz ingenuity as the star danced with his bass within reach of the cheering, bopping crowd."
Forthcoming performances of this project include: Rheingau Festival, Orchestre national de Lille, Orchestre National de Bordeaux, Malmö Symfoniorkester and Essen Philharmonie. Other future orchestral projects will include performances of film scores.
