Audrey Luna debuts at the Wiener Staatsoper as Ariel in Thomas Adès’ The Tempest
Soprano Audrey Luna makes her company debut at the Wiener Staatsoper in her celebrated role of Ariel in Adès’ The Tempest. Conducted by the composer, this new production premieres on 14 June and is streamed live via the Wiener Staatsoper website on 24 June.
With a repertoire ranging from Lucia, Gilda and Zerbinetta through Madame Mao in Adams’ Nixon in China, Ligeti’s Venus and Gepopo, and Cunégonde in Bernstein’s Candide, Audrey Luna is acclaimed for her stratospheric range, versatility and dramatic conviction and has now firmly established herself on both sides of the Atlantic. Recent productions include Les contes d’Hoffmann (Olympia) at both The Metropolitan Opera and Den Norske Opera, Ariel with the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Venus in Ligeti’s Le Grand Macabre with the New York Philharmonic under Alan Gilbert, and Unsuk Chin’s Cantatrix Sopranica with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Benjamin Schwartz.
Audrey Luna features on the Grammy-nominated DVD of The Tempest live from The Metropolitan Opera, and will make her Salzburg Festival debut in the summer of 2016.
