Arvo Volmer conducts the NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg on tour in South America
Arvo Volmer replaces Thomas Hengelbrock on the NDR Sinfonierorchester Hamburg’s tour to South America. On 30 September at Sala São Paulo, Volmer conducts a programme of Wagner’s Prelude from Lohengrin, Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2 (with soloist H.J. Lim) and Brahms’ Symphony No.4. They repeat the programme on 1 October, with Brahms’ Symphony No.1 replacing Symphony No.4. They then appear at Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires on 4 October, again performing the latter programme.
Also as part of the tour, Lawrence Foster conducts the orchestra in an outdoor concert in São Paulo on 29 September.
