Ariel Zuckermann

Ariel Zuckermann tours with the Australian Youth Orchestra

25 August 2017

Ariel Zuckermann tours with the Australian Youth Orchestra across Australia. The first event in the tour is UKARIA 24 with three play/conduct performances at UKARIA Cultural Centre on 25, 26 and 27 August at Mount Barker Summit. The first concert celebrates the Tango Nuevo. This is followed by James Crabb’s iconic arrangements of Piazzolla’s rarely performed live works, and the Aconcagua Concerto. Zuckermann conducts Magnar Åm’s Gratia for harp and strings, and Arvo Pärt’s Fratres for percussion and strings. In the second performance, all musicians come together in the rarely heard masterpiece Ayre from composer Osvaldo Golijov. The final performance concludes with a contemporary tour de force from Sofia Gubaidulina and Haydn’s Symphony No.104, the last London Symphony.

Secondly, Zuckermann performs with the Monumentum Ensemble in their final concert of the year, 'Three Places'. They perform in Sydney (1 September), Canberra (3 September) and Melbourne (4 September) culminating in a recording at Tracktown Studios in Sydney. The performances feature Haydn’s Symphony No.85 (La Reine), two world premiers: Melody Eötvös’s Nabunum's Water (Melbourne concert only), Cyrus Meurant’s All things come into being and pass away, and Ives’ Three Places in New England.
