Alice Sara Ott tours The Chopin Project in Europe and Russia
This week Alice Sara Ott embarks upon an extensive nine-date tour of Europe and Russia with Ólafur Arnalds. This tour is based on their successful CD, The Chopin Project from Mercury Classics, which was released in March and reached No.1 in the Official UK Classical Chart and the iTunes chart in 25 other countries.
The tour begins on 6 September with a concert at the DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen. They will then perform at Laeiszhalle in Hamburg (7), Hasselt Cultural Centre in Belgium (8), Queen Elizabeth Hall in London (9), Mousonturm in Frankfurt (10), Le Trianon in Paris (11), State Capella Concert Hall in St Petersburg (13), Svetlanov Hall in Moscow (14) and the tour comes to a close on 16 September at the Sacrum Profanum Festival in Krakow.
The Chopin Project is a unique concept as it combines works by Chopin in their original form alongside new music from Ólafur, which draws on themes from Chopin’s music. It was recorded on various types of piano in Reykjavik using vintage recording equipment to create an intimate texture of sound.
