Alexei Volodin performs with Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks
Alexei Volodin embarks on a month of high profile concerts, the highlight of which is a return to Munich to perform with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. He plays Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 under the direction of Stanisław Skrowaczewski in concerts on 10 & 11 May; the second concert will be broadcast live on BR-KLASSIK radio.
These concerts follow on from four performances in three days as part of the Tokyo leg of La Folle Journée festival. As Lugansky performs recitals on 3 & 5 May featuring works by Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev, and also plays Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 4, with Sinfonia Varsovia and Jean-Jacques Kantorow on the afternoon of 3 May, as well as with Musica Viva and Volodin’s compatriot Alexander Rudin the following day.
Violinist Sayaka Shoji also performs as part of the Festival, playing Shostakovich’s Concerto No. 1 with the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra under Dmitri Liss on 4 May. Shoji also performs Shostakovich's Piano Trio No. 2 with Tatjana Vassiljeva and Plamena Mangova on May 5.
Later in the month, Volodin tours Spain with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio and its Music Director Vladimir Fedoseyev. Together, they perform Rachmanov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in Vitoria (16 May), Murcia (18), Alicante (19), Girona (20) and Barcelona (21).
