Icelandic Opera will perform Bjarnason’s ‘Brothers’ in June 2018

The Icelandic Opera will perform Brothers, the new opera by the Icelandic composer and conductor Daníel Bjarnason. Brothers will be performed in Harpa Concert Hall in collaboration with The Danish National Opera, Icelandic Symphony Orchestra and Reykjavík Art Festival in June 2018.
The opera is about war, brotherhood and love and is based on the well-known movie Brothers by Susanne Bier. The libretto is written by Kerstin Perski. The original production directed by Kasper Holten will transfer to Reykjavik.
Brothers is the first opera by the composer and was premiered in Musikhuset in Aarhus on 16 August 2017. The performance was a great success and critics gave the production their highest praise.
