Karita Mattila signs to HarrisonParrott
29/10/2015
HarrisonParrott is delighted to announce a collaboration with acclaimed Finnish soprano, Karita Mattila, who joins our roster with immediate effect.
Since winning the inaugural Cardiff Singer of the World competition in 1983, Mattila has gone on to deliver extraordinary performances which continue to be hailed by the critics, while setting new standards. Now in the fourth decade of a career which has seen her on the stages of every great theatre, concert and recital hall in the world, Mattila retains the key to her own success – a combination of vocal strength and beauty, nuanced delivery of text and committed and compelling dramatic performances.
This operatic journey has progressed from the Mozart heroines through Eva, Chrysothemis, Manon Lescaut, and Jenůfa to Leonore, Salome, Sieglinde and Ariadne (“Mattila is unquestionably glorious… that engulfing sound still hits you in the solar plexus” The Guardian, October 2015). The future brings further repertoire developments including the exciting progression from Janacek’s Jenůfa – surely one of her most revered roles – to the terrifying Kostelnička.
Boasting a varied and extensive discography (many of her operatic roles have been captured on DVD), Mattila continues to balance her schedule with concert appearances between productions and annual recital tours.
HarrisonParrott represents Karita Mattila in Europe, Asia and Australasia.
