Michał Nesterowicz has been named Principal Guest Conductor of Sinfonieorchester Basel, effective from the start of the 2016/17 season.
Commenting on his appointment Artistic Planner of the Sinfonieorchester Basel, Dr. Hans-Georg Hofmann said: “The Sinfonieorchester Basel has been working with Michał Nesterowicz for almost three years now. We are convinced that he has great talent and immense creative power. As Principal Guest Conductor we’d like to link him closer to the orchestra. Michał Nesterowicz stands for a young generation of conductors that place a strong programmatic emphasis on the music of the 20th and 21st century and hence achieve to inspire the audience – no matter how old they are.”
Michał Nesterowicz added: “I am extremely happy to have the opportunity to work closely with such a wonderful group of musicians. Over our many concerts together in the past three years, it has become evident that we share the same musical convictions and goals and I look forward with great excitement to developing our relationship.”
