Anne Sofie von Otter returns to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden
6/3/2015
Anne Sofie von Otter makes an anticipated return to the Royal Opera House as Leokadja Begbick in John Fulljames’ new production of The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, opening on 10 March under Mark Wigglesworth.
Von Otter has previously performed Weill songs with the London and Sydney Symphony orchestras and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra amongst others, and her critically-acclaimed recording of Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins with NDR-Sinfonieorchester Hamburg under Sir John Eliot Gardiner is available on Deutsche Grammophon. Future plans include Weill’s Die Dreigroschenoper at Theater an der Wien.
Maintaining a busy and diverse diary this season, von Otter’s upcoming performances include Waltraute (Götterdämmerung) at the Wiener Staatsoper under Sir Simon Rattle, the world premiere of Peter Eötvös’ Senza sangue with the New York Philharmonic under Alan Gilbert and Isoldes Abendbrot — a new work by Christoph Marthaler — at Theater Basel. In concert, von Otter sings in Le nozze di Figaro at Festspielhaus Baden-Baden alongside Thomas Hampson, Diana Damrau and Rolando Villazón.
