Andreas Scholl performs an evening of Jacobean music at Shakespeare’s Globe
6/6/2014
Andreas Scholl is joined by lutenist Edin Karamazov for two evenings of Jacobean music and words at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, part of Shakespeare’s Globe.
In ‘Music for a Jacobean Court’ Scholl and Karamazov have devised a programme interweaving Shakespeare sonnets with music by John Dowland and Thomas Campion.
Writing about the programme Scholl explains: “Edin and I first performed this combination of Shakespeare and Dowland fifteen years ago – I loved the atmosphere it created. The completion of the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse gave us the irresistible opportunity to present it once again.”
The performances are presented in the setting of The Globe’s intimate new venue on 15 & 16 June.
