Pekka Kuusisto returns to the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra
14/4/2014
Pekka Kuusisto returns to the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra on 16 April for a performance of Sibelius’ Violin Concerto.
The concert is conducted by Hannu Lintu, also making his return to the orchestra. The programme also features Brahms’ Symphony No.2; earlier this season Lintu made an impression with his interpretation of Brahms’ First Symphony with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London — garnering praise from The Times for his “compelling” performance of the work.
Kuusisto will perform the iconic Finnish concerto again in May, as one of four appearances by him at the 2014 Salisbury Festival. In the 31 May concert the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Andris Nelsons.
