Behzod Abduraimov's debut album wins two French awards
22 October 2012
Behzod Abduraimov's debut CD has won two prestigious French awards, the Choc de Classica and the Diapason Découverte.
The album, featuring piano works by Prokofiev, Liszt and Saint-Saens, was released by Decca Classics in March 2012 and has since received praise from around the globe, with The Telegraph describing Behzod as "an artist not only of extraordinary technical ability, but also one with a terrific musical personality and sensibility. Those qualities come through clearly on this disc".
The awards are given by Classica magazine, France's national classical music publication. Last year's winners included Jordi Savall, Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, and Alice Sara Ott.
Abduraimov, who recently made his debut with the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, soon goes on to make his Milan recital debut at the Conservatoria Giuseppe Verdi. Next month he debuts in New York (at Le Poisson Rouge) and in London, giving his first concerts at the International Piano Series.
