Susanna Mälkki conducts two concerts with Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra

This June sees Susanna Mälkki conduct two high-profile concerts with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra on 22 & 23 June as part of the 2012 Holland Festival. The programme, entitled 'Out of the Box', sees the orchestra and Mälkki perform a modern programme featuring works by Boulez and Lindberg, as well as two world premieres by Richard Rijnvos and Kaija Saariaho, all in the unusual acoustics of the Gashouder building, part of the city's old gasworks.

Renowned for her interpretations of contemporary repertoire, these concerts follow Mälkki's recent world premiere performance of Marco Stroppa's Re Orso with Ensemble intercontemporain at Paris's Opera Comique.
