Susanna Mälkki receives Pro Finlandia Medal of the Order of the Lion of Finland

Conductor Susanna Mälkki has been awarded the Pro Finlandia Medal of the Order of the Lion of Finland. The award, given to respected artists and writers, is one of Finland's highest honours, and has been presented since 1942.
Currently Music Director of the Ensemble intercontemporain, Mälkki has in recent seasons conducted some of the world’s leading orchestras including the Berliner Philharmoniker, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Münchner Philharmoniker, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. Highlights in coming seasons include her debut with the San Francisco Symphony and a return to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and Mostly Mozart Festival, New York.
