Behzod Abduraimov named Musical America's Artist of the Month
6 December 2011
Musical America has named pianist Behzod Abduraimov as their December artist of the month.
An exclusive Decca artist, Behzod Abduraimov’s debut recital CD will be released later this season. Still only 21, debuts in 2011/12 include dates with the Tokyo Symphony (Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.1), Atlanta Symphony (Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No.1) and NAC Ottawa orchestras (Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3) as well as the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo (Saint-Saëns' Piano Concerto No. 2) and the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra at Zurich's Tonhalle (Mozart's Piano Concerto K466).
In Musical America's feature on the young Uzbek, Paul Horsley quoted an interview with Abduraimov's teacher Stanislav Ioudenitch, commenting on his potential: "Somewhere between Horowitz and Cortot... He makes a very big impression with an audience –- with this incredible energy, this unbelievable force he has, he just shines from the stage.”
Musical America is one of the most popular publications in the industry, with an international readership online and in print. Each month the organisation chooses a new artist to feature, in addition to its annual awards given in November.
