Peter Eötvös opens Venice Biennale and receives Golden Lion award

Peter Eötvös opens the Biennale di Venezia festival with the SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden und Freiburg on 24 September at the Teatro alla Tese. The programme includes works by Bartók, Stravinsky as well as Eötvös himself. The performance will also see him presented with the prestigious Golden Lion award, given for lifetime achivement in the field of music. Previous winners in recent years have included Helmut Lachenmann (2008), György Kurtág (2009) and Wolfgang Rihm (2010).
