Lera Auerbach and Igor Levit perform at International Shostakovich Festival with Staatskapelle Dresden

From 16-18 September, Lera Auerbach and Igor Levit will both be featured artists in several concerts at the 2nd International Shostakovich Festival in Gohrisch, Germany, which is being curated by the Staatskapelle Dresden. Levit will be making his debut with the Staatskapelle under Mikhail Jurowski, playing Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No 1, whilst Auerbach – the Staatskapelle’s current Composer in Residence – will give the opening speech of the festival and will also be performing her own Piano Trio and Violin Sonata No 3. Her String Quartet No 5 will receive its world premiere in the Semperoper in Dresden on 15 September, played by the Shostakovich Festival Quartet, and will also be performed at the festival on 17 September.
