HarrisonParrott artists perform in Southbank Centre's Boulez Festival
26 September 2011
Several HarrisonParrott artists take part in a highly-anticipated new series celebrating the work of Pierre Boulez at London's Southbank Centre, 'Exquisite Labyrinth: The music of Pierre Boulez'. Consisting of seven events, Pierre-Laurent Aimard is the artistic adviser to the series, which also features him playing almost all of Boulez's piano works in three concerts with Tamara Stefanovich. Susanna Mälkki opens the series, conducting the Royal Academy of Music Manson Ensemble on 30 September, before Peter Eötvös joins the London Sinfonietta fresh from his performances and presentation of the Golden Lion award at the Venice Biennale.
The highlight of the series sees soprano Barbara Hannigan appear under Pierre Boulez himself, who conducts Ensemble intercontemporain and the Lucerne Festival Academy Ensemble in his masterpiece, Pli selon pli. This concert is the culmination of an acclaimed international tour by the ensembles, Hannigan and Boulez to some of Europe's most prestigious venues including the Lucerne and Zermatt Festivals, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw and Paris' Salle Pleyel.
