Igor Levit announced as BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist

Pianist Igor Levit has been appointed a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist.

The prestigious scheme gives promising young artists a respected platform for their talent in concerts in London around the UK. These include appearances and recordings with the BBC Orchestras, special studio recordings for BBC Radio 3 and appearances at the BBC Proms. This appointment follows on from the announcement of Levit's future participation in the ECHO Rising Star series, where he will perform at venues including the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Kölner Philharmonie, Barbican Centre and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw. At only 24, Igor Levit will make his debut next season with the London Philharmonic Orchestra under Vladimir Jurowski, the Staatskapelle Dresden under Mikhail Jurowski and the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Iván Fischer.
