HarrisonParrott artists perform at Verbier Festival

The Verbier Festival is underway and this year, several HarrisonParrott play a large part in the proceedings.
Stephen Hough performs on two days of the festival, with a performance of Libermann's Quintet (19 July) and in a solo recital two days later on 21 July. The multifaceted Lera Auerbach sees her Requiem for Icarus given a world premiere performance by the Verbier Festival Orchestra and Neeme Järvi (who steps in at short notice for Charles Dutoit) on 18 July, before she gives the European premiere of her own her transcription of Shostakovich's 24 Preludes and Fugues for viola and piano, also featuring alto Kim Kashkashian and cellist Gautier Capuçon.
Violinists Valeriy Sokolov and Lisa Batiashvili also journey to the alpine festival; the former performs in a a chamber version of Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 and a recital with Nelson Goerner, whilst Batiashvili returns to the festival for two chamber concerts on 17 & 21 July 2011.
