Vladimir Ashkenazy and Akiko Suwanai perform in Japan charity concerts

Two HarrisonParrott artists perform in charity concerts in aid of victims of the recent Japanese earthquake. Vladimir Ashkenazy returns to Tokyo to conduct students of the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music on 23 May, before going on to perform in six concerts with NHK Symphony Orchestra featuring three different programmes on 28-29 May, 3,4,8 & 9 June.

In London, Akiko Suwanai appears with Sapporo Symphony Orchestra and Tadaaki Otaka on 23 May at the Royal Festival Hall. The entire proceeds from the ticket sales will go directly to the Japanese Red Cross Society and the Japan Society Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund. This concert is also part of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra's 50th anniversary tour with a programme including Bruch's Violin Concerto, Takemitsu's How Slow the Wind and Shostakovich's Symphony No 5. Further concerts are scheduled in Munich, Salerno, Milan and Düsseldorf.

Both Ashkenazy and Suwanai also perform on Decca & Deutsche Grammophon's Classics for Japan – Music for Healing. Universal Music and the artists on the album will donate their proceeds to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
