Peter Eötvös named as judge in Toru Takemitsu Competition

Peter Eötvös has been named as the sole judge of the Toru Takemitsu Competition in 2014.

One of the world's highest-profile awards for young composers, the competition is unique in that a sole juror chooses the winner of the prestigious award each year.

Organised by the Tokyo Opera City Cultural Foundation, the competition's judges are some of the most respected composers of the present day, and have included Oliver Knussen, György Ligeti, Steve Reich, George Benjamin, Helmut Lachenmann, Louis Andriessen and Magnus Lindberg.
