Sakari Oramo debuts with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra

Sakari Oramo will take over from Ricardo Muti conducting four concerts on 10, 11, 12 & 15 February. The performances feature Sibelius’ Finlandia, Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto (with soloist Vadim Repin) and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 6. The Chicago appearances follow Oramo’s debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra earlier this month. Furture highlights for the Finnish conductor include a European tour with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra which includes a concert at the Musikverein in Vienna.
