Neeme Järvi conducts seven concerts with the Berliner Philharmoniker
6 December 2010
Neeme Järvi has travelled to Berlin at short notice to step in for Kirill Petrenko who has unfortunately had to withdraw from concerts with the Berliner Philharmoniker this week due to illness. Maestro Järvi was due in Berlin on 12 December to conduct four concerts, but at the request of the orchestra agreed to cut short a break in the USA to travel to Europe a week early.
The programme for the concerts on 9, 10 and 11 December includes Shostakovich Symphony No.14 (with soloists OIga Mykytenko and Anatoli Kotscherga), Strauss Don Juan and Tchaikovsky Francesca da Rimini. The original planned concerts, on 15, 16, 17 & 18 December feature Arcardi Volodos performing Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1, Suite from the opera-ballet Mlada by Rimsky-Korsakov, and Taneyev Symphony No.4.
