Susanna Mälkki debuts with four US orchestras

Susanna Mälkki will spend four weeks in the United States in November, making four debut appearances with four different orchestras. She will begin in Pennsylvania, conducting the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and soloist Leila Josefowicz on 5 & 6 November, before travelling to California to lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic on 12-14 November, including US premiere performances of Hammered Out by Mark-Anthony Turnage.
Crossing the continent for the following week, Susanna conducts the National Symphony Orchestra, Washington, D.C., in three concerts between 18-20 November with Garrick Ohlsson as piano soloist. After that she will move to Texas to work with the Houston Symphony and soloist Stephen Hough on 26-28 November. Through the course of this Stateside musical journey, she will conduct a wide range of repertoire, including works by Mozart, Grieg, Stravinsky, Sibelius, Mahler and Lindberg.
